Megan Herbert

Artist Statement
My work exists at the instruction of the natural world and the human experience, shaped by a childhood spent alongside two aquatic ecologists who taught me to question, observe, and find meaning in the environment around me. The sense of inquiry continues to inform everything I create. Animals, ecosystem, and the quiet tensions within nature serve as a recurring anchors across my practice
I work primarily in digital and mixed media, using tools like Adobe Photoshop, after effects, and toonBoom harmony to bring environment and narrative to life. alongside my visual work I bring a strong foundation in animation production, where organizing a creative vision is its own form of craft.
Animation offers something still imagery cannot. the way a creature shift, a landscape breathers, or a moment unfolds in time adds a layer of personality and beauty that transforms observations into storytelling
